Hey...wait!

06-15-12
I'm on the dock, taking pictures of Dive Express motoring away.

Lynn and Bruce are waving good bye. Mike is taking a picture of me taking a picture. Greg is hanging out, getting ready to put on his wet suit. Pingo is getting the masks ready. Wensces is driving the boat.

Hey...wait! I wanna go! Don't leave me! That's what my heart says.

My head says...you better sit this one out. My stomach seconds that motion...literally.

Have fun on the twilight and night dives! Hope you find lots of octopus, puffer fish, sharks, and turtles!

Note #2 to Self

Dear Self,
You're going to get sick if any of the following happen:
  1. The visibility at the dock is nil.
  2. The boats lined up alongside the dock keep crashing into it.
  3. You see a lot of white caps.
So, Self, if you can't see the bottom while standing at the dock, don't get on the dive boat. Don't do it if the boats are moving up, down, around, back, forth, and then crash into the dock. And white caps...are you kidding?

You're going to get sick. You're going to regret it. You'll feel better and will live to dive another day if you just sit this one out! I promise you'll thank me for it!

Love,
Me

Note #1 to Self

Dear Self,
I know you LOVE to dive! I know you want to make the most of your days in Cozumel. However, don't expect much on day number 2! You'll probably want to sleep in and laze the first half of the day away. So, just do it!

Ensure that your first dive is in the late afternoon. It'll work better for you, for the dive shop, for Pingo, and for Wensces. Plan for it. It'll make your life so much easier!

Love,
Me

Dive Day #2

Dive day #2 started out better...or so I thought.

We were at the dock, getting our dive stuff ready by 9:00 am--that was so promising.

Palancar Caves--what a great dive site for the first deep dive of the trip! And, of course, it helps that this is Bruce's favorite!

We saw fish.
We saw fishies.

And then, at some point, I saw breakfast. Not good.

Back on the boat, I decided that diving just wasn't going to be a good thing for me that day. We headed back to the dock where I was dropped off. Greg, Lynn, and Bruce continued diving that day and got in a total of three dives!

As for me, I slept off an icky stomach and crazy head! Feel better now and live to dive again another day!

A Rolling Start

We had such high aspirations for our first full dive day--
  1. 7:05 am: Breakfast
  2. 8:35 am: On the dock
  3. 9:00 am: On the boat heading to the first dive site
  4. 9:35 am: Giant stride into the blue for dive #1 of 3
Yea...not so much! Breakfast and back to the room...for a nap!

We finally mustered the energy and then some to complete one dive on Saturday--after the standard lunch of hamburgesas y papas (that's hamburgers and fries for all those that don't know the lingo!).

And when we finally did dive, it was great to get into the blue! How we missed the fishes...did they miss us?

Palancar Gardens, a dive site fave for all, was the pick for our first adventure of 2012.

This dive was pretty memorable for me...
I followed Greg--up, down, around, through the swim thrus--and at some point, all that and the motion of the ocean, did me in.

I gave Greg the sign--UP, Dude! And like NOW! Yea...memorable dive.

And that was the first and last dive of the day for all four of us!

Wecome to Cozumel 2012

It's hard to believe that we've been in Cozumel one week--the time has flown too quickly! We probably all wish for at least another 7 days--I know I do!

A lot has happened in these last 7 days...where do I begin?
