We gotta eat!

Breakfast—Desayuno

We eat breakfast at La Posada, the buffet restaurant at the main building. On a dive morning, I eat bland foods—nothing greasy—like waffles and bananas. So, if we’re having a rolling type of day on the boat with lots of waves, anything that comes up is not too bad the second time around.

Greg, on the other hand, can eat anything he wants! He doesn’t have to worry about greasy foods because he’s got a cast-iron stomach. (Must be nice!) He typically enjoys made-to-order omelets with fried hash browns and yummy pastries.

Today, I had an awesome breakfast! I enjoyed a HUGE made-to-order omelet with fried hash browns and yummy pastries. Wanna know why? No diving today!

Lunch—Almuerzo

Lunch is served everyday buffet-style at the beach restaurant. It’s a beautiful, open air restaurant, right by the beach, the dive shop, and the main pool. We’re a little wary about some of the foods they serve so we stick to the tried and true—hamburgesas con queso y papas fritas (cheeseburgers and fries).

The chef now knows Greg well and asks him everyday if he wants the “especial.” Si, por favor!

And sometimes, I may even top off lunch with some strawberry ice cream and chocolate syrup!

Dinner—Cena

We’ve had dinner at all three restaurants—La Posada (buffet-style with a different food theme nightly), Los Olivos (a specialty restaurant serving Italian/Mediterranean cuisine), and the Sonora Grill (a specialty steak restaurant). It’s requested that you make a reservation at the specialty restaurants; however, in the past, we’ve been able to walk in and there’s been a table available.

Again, anything off the buffet line we’re cautious of and ensure that the beef or chicken is cooked well. Last night, the theme was seafood so we had chicken. Squid, anyone?

The best part of the buffet is the desserts. Yummy! We like the chocolate cake and ice cream best!
